A legacy was bequeathed to the parish priest of Newbridge ‘to provide for housing of the elderly poor of Newbridge’. This was the impetus to design and construct 26 apartments, a caretaker’s apartment and meeting room.
The apartments are arranged in courtyards of 9/10 to create a defensible space for the residents. Each apartment has a sitting/dining room/kitchen, one or two bedrooms and a bathroom.
Funding was provided by the Department of the Environment through Kildare County Council.
