This project involved the design of a new two storey, flat roofed extension to the street front of an existing protected structure, an upper floor extension of an existing shop and café building, and the replacement of an existing extension to the protected structure with a new two storey access/link space.
This proposed extension to the protected structure is treated as an apparent separate building by the use of a step back in the façade with dark brick facing. The strong horizontal lines of the extended shop and café building lead the eye to a bold vertical element; acting as a beacon to draw in visitors to the brick and stone courtyard.
