Project Type
New Church
Location
St. Paul’s, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
To cater for the expansion of the town it was decided to locate a new church on the Delvin Road, on land owned by the Bishop of Meath. This church caters for a congregation of 750 with a day chapel, vestry and toilet. It is designed in a fan shape. The baptistery is, unusually, designed for total immersion and occupies its own defined space. The building was constructed using a diaphragm wall system where the structure is concealed. The sanctuary elements and Baptistery fittings are by Chris Ryan. Statuary and Stations of the Cross are by Elizabeth Ryan. Completed in 1988.
